Personal FAQ's

What is your ethnicity?
I get this question a lot. So many people think that I am either white or Spanish. I am neither, though I’m sure that somewhere along the lineage there is a little of everything.

I am half Mexican and half German. I am Germexican!

What do you do for a living?
I hate this question, but it’s one of the most asked questions in our world, I think.

I am an Accountant.

That’s it.

That’s all I have to say about that.

How long have you been married?
Oscar and I have been together for almost 13 years. We are about to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary.

What is it like being a stepmom?
In one word?  Hard. I only say hard because from one day to the next you are a parent. In the beginning of our marriage, I devoted myself to my stepson the way I devote myself to everything – 100%. However, I quickly learned that my approach wasn't the right approach. I learned that even though I have the responsibility of my stepson I ultimately have no say in how he is raised. That line is so hard to walk and I have since dubbed myself as a “supporting role” to my stepson’s life story. I am not his mom, but I can be his confidant, balance his father’s “dad-ness” in our house and ultimately make his life a tiny bit better. This approach has been 100% better than when I first took on the title of stepmom.

What kind of eyeliner do you use?
Sounds like a silly question, but I get it A LOT…
Here is a post I did on my make-up routine.

Are you going to have any more children?
The most accurate answer to this would be – we’ll see. I am not getting any younger! However, I want all my kids to have a good life and I want to have a strong marriage. Kids are cute and fun, but they are also a ton of work and can overwhelm and exhaust a household. We are still on the fence on this one…

Why did you create this blog?
The short answer - I needed an outlet for my nutrition talk. Long answers: My dad's sepsis survival and I needed to lose some baby weight.

When do you have the time to blog?
I usually blog at night and schedule my posts for the following day. I also write whenever I get a moment on the weekends...usually during my son's nap time. Really though, blogging is a lot of work and my mind is constantly thinking of things I want to post on here. It's not like I have the time to sit down and contemplate everything that I want to put on the blog. No, my head is always working for my blog.
